Hipi Homewares

Hipi ( Maori for sheep) as a timeless, elegant homewares company, set to to re-ignite the value of wool via high end – yet accessible interior products. Hipi aims to have wool be regarded and acknowledged as unique, sustainable and artisan.

Each woolen piece is seasonal and limited edition and made from wool from Bagshot farm, Wairarapa, New Zealand.

The developed Hipi brand design is simple, clean and fresh. The primary logo is approachable and minimal, and reminiscent of home-typed letters on a typewriter. The secondary logo includes a definition of ‘hipi’, in a dictionary-like layout.

Natural elements are included in the logo design alternatives - a hand-drawn circle around the secondary logo, and a brush-stroke underneath the primary logo. These elements add an artisanal touch to the brand design.

The three hand-drawn linework patterns are reminiscent of individual wool strands meandering over the page. The patterns are dynamic, natural and add a relaxed, sensory element to the brand. They can be used in conjunction with the logo or on their own as a background or image element. The patterns work both on a solid colour, and with coloured linework on a white background.

The colour palette is comprised of warm, earthy and natural tones; a maroon, a forest green, a charcoal and a light grey; autumnal colours which aligns with the intention of a base colour range for the products.
